April Recap and May News

April Recap:
April has come and gone. Although our month was short, it was filled with so much excitement! We returned from Spring Break to an excellent Egg Hunt. The children had so much fun finding eggs. Seeing how the older children shared or helped some of, the younger children fill their bags was so sweet. We also had our Spring photos. We will have our make-up day in May for those who missed it.
Along with a busy month of egg hunts and photos, the children at PCMA started to explore the continent of Australia. They discovered that this island continent is home to kangaroos, koalas, and crocs. They explored volcanoes and found New Zealand has an active volcano and Hawaii! They looked at photos of aboriginal artwork and created their pieces.
Our chick eggs arrived this month as well! It takes about 21 days for gestation, and we should have chicks! Make sure to check them out in the incubator in the office.
May News:
In May, our unit for this month is the continent of South America. We will investigate the countries of Brazil, Peru, and Argentina. The children will study the multitudes of languages, focusing mainly on Spanish and Portuguese. We will also review the continent's cultures, traditions, and clothing. Along with learning about South America, we will explore different whales and how they migrate through the oceans. In addition, the children will explore the life cycle of a butterfly! Our book of the month is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
We are pleased about the beginning of the month and all the celebrations we will hold. Please mark your calendars on May 10th for our Mother's Day tea party. On May 16th, we will also have our Parent-Teacher conference; please note it's an early closure day, and all children must be picked up at 3 PM sharp. Lastly, we are happy to celebrate teacher appreciation week; please watch for daily recommendation gift ideas.
