May Recap June News

May Recap:

The children learned about South America, Whales, and Butterflies in May. The children enjoyed exploring the Oceans of Earth. They discovered that the Pacific Ocean is the largest and is the closest ocean to us. We learned that whales migrate (travel) through the oceans depending on the season. Some of our favorite whales were the Orca and the Blue Whale.

The school also received our painted lady caterpillars. Each classroom watched the tiny caterpillars eat away and grow larger. The children observed the caterpillars climb to the top and hang upside down, creating a chrysalis. Once all the caterpillars were in their chrysalis, we transferred them over to our large net in the office to patiently watch for them to come out! The children were so excited and happy to watch the life cycle of a butterfly.

May was also very celebratory; we celebrated our wonderful mothers and excellent teachers! The staff started the month feeling like celebrities and showered with love, appreciation, and goodies. THANK YOU to all the families who contributed and helped make us all feel appreciated.

Pacific Coast Montessori hosted our first Mother’s Day Tea. Seeing the wonderful parents and caregivers for the children was excellent. It was so sweet to see the families mingling and getting to know each other more.

June News:

For June, we are finishing the year by talking about Community Helpers. We will learn about the importance of a community and how many jobs are needed to make our community thrive. We hope to get a special visit from the local fire and police departments as well! Our book of the month will be The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdone which teaches the importance of hard work and initiative. With all the planned activities, we are so excited to have our very first academic year completed. We appreciate all the families who have picked our little school to educate your child.
